Algeria hails statement of Libyan Presidential Council to hold broad consultations

ALGIERS- Algeria hail, Saturday, the statement of the Libyan Presidential Council to hold broad consultations to present to the Council of Representatives, a consensual proposal of government of national unity.
“Algeria hails the statement of the Libyan presidential council through which it stated, notably, its full availability to work with the Council of Representatives and the State Council in the framework of the implementation of the terms of the political Agreement signed on 17 December 2015 by the Libyan parties, and its willingness to hold broad consultations with the lifeblood of the society in order to present to the Council of Representatives, a consensual proposal of a Government of National Unity,” said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In this regard, he underlined that Algeria, “which always worked for the preservation of Libya’s unity, territorial integrity and its national cohesion, considers that any decision in line with the best interest of the Libyan people is an important step for the restoration of Libya’s peace, security and stability, and is an essential factor in the process of national reconciliation of this brotherly and neighbouring country.”
In this regard, the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry recalled that “Algeria, closely follows the progress of the situation in Libya and gives great importance to the peaceful settlement of the crisis through dialogue and national reconciliation likely to allow the Libyan authorities to face the country’s difficult situation and thus meet the expectations of the brotherly Libyan people in economic and social matters and in the field of the fight against terrorism.”
