ALGIERS- Algeria follows with great concern the developments of the situation in Libya, following the clashes which broke out between armed groups on Friday night in the Libyan capital Tripoli, warning all the Libyan parties
against the risk of plunging the country back into the chaos and leading it to the point of no-return, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said in a statement.
“While condemning the resort to violence in all its forms, Algeria warns all the Libyan parties against the risk of plunging the country back into the chaos or leading it to the point of no-return, and calls them to show wisdom and to make dialogue and reconciliation prevail by preserving the cease-fire agreement, in order to avoid bloodshed and protect the security and integrity of the Libyans,” said the source.
“This serious development, which occurs on the eve of the resumption of the works of the Joint Constitutional Commission in Cairo under the aegis of the United Nations, is in itself an additional factor to reaffirm the urgent need to speed up the completion of the elaboration of the contents of the constitutional basis that will enable the Libyan people to exercise their sovereign right to choose their leaders and representatives through free and honest elections in an atmosphere of security and stability,” concluded the source.
