Mr. Attaf arrives in Cotonou for talks with his Beninese counterpart
Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, has discussed with his counterpart from Benin, Adjadi Bakari Olushegun, recent developments in the crisis in Niger and ways to restore constitutional order in the country in order to preserve its security and stability.
In this regard, the two parties affirmed their commitment to the legal rules of the African Union (AU), established at the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) Summit held in Algiers in 1999, aimed at dealing with the scourge of unconstitutional changes of government.
The two ministers have also exchanged information and analyses on the efforts being made in favour of a peaceful solution and to avoid the use of force, which risks exacerbating the challenges facing Niger and the region as a whole.
Attaf arrived in Cotonou (Benin) on Friday, as part of the diplomatic tour he is conducting on behalf of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, where he held extensive talks with his Beninese counterpart.
