ALGIERS- Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) “is not a political organization and its role is, rather, to stabilize the oil market,”
United Arab Emirates’ minister of Energy and Industry Souhail Mohamed Al Mazraoui said Sunday in Algiers.
In a press briefing on the sidelines of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee on Compliance with the OPEC-Non-OPEC Output Cut Agreement, Al Mazraoui said “OPEC is not a political organization and is not concerned by political pressure,” referring to a recent tweet by US President Donald Trump, in which he asked OPEC countries to increase production, accusing the organization of “pushing for higher and higher oil prices.”
