President Tebboune sends message to UN chief
The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has sent a message to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, following the election of Algeria as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, in which he outlined the key priorities of Algeria within this body.
In his message to Guterres, President Tebboune said the election of Algeria as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, the main UN body, for the period 2024-2025, “gives our country a special responsibility consisting in the participation in decision making to strengthen international peace and security.”
“Algeria will have a new opportunity, after its successful chairmanship of the Arab League, to reiterate the principles and ideals of its foreign policy, and share its views on the international issues on the Security Council’s agenda, with reference to its valuable historical legacy.”
