ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Thursday, in Algiers, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio, said a communiqué of the Presidency
of the Republic.
“President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received, on Thursday 9 January, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio,” said the source.
“During these talks, focusing on the situation in Libya, a convergence of views was underlined on the need to intensify efforts for an immediate ceasefire, prior to the resumption of dialogue between the belligerent Libyan parties likely to find a political solution guaranteeing the unity of the Libyan people and the territorial integrity of Libya and preserve the national sovereignty, away from any pressure and foreign interference,” added the source.
In this regard, “it was agreed to strengthen the coordination and dialogue in the light of the international conference on Libya to be held shortly,” added the source.
The two sides also “exchanged views on the excellent bilateral relations in various fields, by agreeing to give them a grater impetus, notably in order to take advantage of the pioneering Italian experience in the creation of startups and SMEs,” concluded the source.
