OIC: Necib broaches Algerian experience in drinking water supply

ALGIERS- Minister of Water Resources Hocine Necib underlined, in Cairo, Algeria’s efforts aimed at providing a quality drinking water and sanitation service, said a ministerial communiqué.
Speaking in the 4th meeting of water ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on 14-15 October in Cairo, Necib “underlined Algeria’s significant efforts to ensure and provide the citizens with quality drinking water and sanitation service thanks to the State’s major investments, as part of different development programmes initiated by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika since 2000.”
The minister also broached Algeria’s experience in the mobilization of water resources and the access to safe drinking water, as well as the progress in the field of treatment and protection of the resource, added the source.
On the sidelines of this meeting, Necib was received, in the company of other water ministers of OIC’s countries, by Egyptian President Abdel Fettah Sissi, who stressed the importance of the protection and optimal use of water resources, challenges facing OIC’s countries.
The minister also took part at the opening of the first week of Cairo on Water, organized under the theme “preserving water for sustainable development.”
