Minister Attaf receives phone call from the Libyan minister in charge of managing the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received Wednesday a phone call from the person in charge of managing the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNA), Taher Al-Baour.
On behalf of the Government of National Unity, the Libyan minister expressed recognition and consideration for Algeria’s honourable position at the latest UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Libya, commending the pertinence and clarity of the position in favour of the Libyan people and their legitimate aspirations for restoring security and stability as part of national unity.
The representative of Algeria had reiterated, at the Security Council meeting, Algeria’s firm position on the Libyan crisis, a position based on constants and rules set out as follows: firstly, Libyan crisis must be settled peacefully and politically, secondly, the settlement of the Libyan crisis requires an inter-Libyan process under UN sponsorship, and thirdly, the settlement of the Libyan crisis must lead to the holding of free and fair elections with the participation of all factions of the Libyan people, ensuring the unification of their institutions and meeting their expectations at the domestic and foreign levels.
