COPENHAGEN-Algeria is a “secure” country that enjoys “great stability” in a region marked by great turbulence, due in particular to the crises in some neighbouring countries,
Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel said Thursday in Copenhagen.
“Now, Algeria is a secure country that enjoys great stability in an area marked by great turbulence, due in particular to the crises in some neighbouring countries, the persistence of the terrorist threat and the scourge of massive illegal migration, which also poses serious challenges to stability and security in the region,” stressed Messahel at a conference on Algeria’s contribution to the stabilization of the region and the Arab world, its experience in the fight against terrorism and deradicalization.
The Algerian top diplomat, who is on an official visit to Denmark, stressed that “the vision of peace, reconciliation, dialogue and long-term development advocated by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika led to this positive situation, through policies, strategies and programmes. Moreover, the People’s National Army (ANP) and other security forces played a key role in making Algeria a secure and stable country.
“Algeria’s stability, despite several security challenges facing the region, has made it the seventh safest country in the world according to the Gallup Institute (Washington) in 2016 and 2017.
This conference is part of Algeria’s efforts to “share its experience in the fight against terrorism, deradicalization and national reconciliation.”
