NIAMEY (Niger)- The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, was received upon his arrival to Niamey, Sunday, for a working visit to the Republic of Niger as special
envoy of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, by Niger’s President Mohamed Bazoum.
Lamamra conveyed to President Bazoum a message of friendship from his brother, President Tebboune, reiterating the special and strategic relations between the two countries and their willingness to work together, bilaterally and multilaterally, to address the common challenges of the continent, especially the Sahel-Sahara region.
Both sides welcomed the excellent quality of historical relations of friendship, cooperation, solidarity and good neighbourliness between the two countries.
The chief of Algerian diplomacy stressed the commitment and determination of Algiers and Niamey to continue efforts to promote bilateral cooperation, in line with the results of President Bazoum’s recent visit to Algeria.
The audience was an opportunity for the two sides to have a fruitful exchange on the situation prevailing in the Sahel-Saharan strip, marked by an upsurge in terrorism, and ways to strengthen the responses at regional and continental levels.
They also tackled the crises in Libya and Mali as well as the current issues on the African Union agenda.
The exchanges were marked by a broad convergence of views and a common desire to work towards enhancing consultations and coordination on all matters of common interest between the two countries.
