Lamamra holds consultative meetings with counterparts in Addis Ababa

ADDIS ABABA- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, held in Addis Ababa consultative meetings with his counterparts from Libya, South Africa, and Angola.
These meetings, held on the eve of the work of the 40th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), allowed the three parties to “discuss the subjects on the agenda of the
40th session of the Executive Council, including those related to political and peace and security issues in Africa, to coordinate their positions,” said Tuesday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
The meetings were also an opportunity to discuss the main challenges facing the African continent in light of growing security threats, governance problems, and unconstitutional changes, in addition to the
impacts caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on the economic and health situation,” the same source added.
During his meeting with his Libyan counterpart, Najla Mangoush, “the FM discussed fraternal relations between the two countries and brotherly peoples, the development of the situation in Libya and prospects to relaunch the political process to end the crisis,” added the source.
On this occasion, Lamamra reaffirmed “the unwavering and permanent support of Algeria to the Libyans,” stressing the “need to boost the Libyan national reconciliation process to strengthen national unity
and prepare the ground for achieving a consensus on the issues of disagreements between the Libyan brothers.”
For her part, the Libyan minister reiterated “Algeria’s supportive positive and its tireless efforts to ensure the supreme interest of the Libyan people.
In addition, the two ministers exchanged the main issues to be discussed at the African ministerial meeting, noting in this regard the upcoming Arab events.
In this regard, the Libyan minister welcomed the Algerian approach and its efforts to meet the conditions necessary for the success of the Arab summit.
