ALGIERS – German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay on Monday an official visit to Algeria, at invitation of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, said Sunday a communiqué of the Presidency of the Republic.
“At the invitation of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay an official visit to Algeria on 17 September 2018,” added the same source.
This visit, part of the high level bilateral dialogue “is meant to reinforce the relations of friendship and cooperation that exist between Algeria and Germany, and which are significantly growing in all the fields, reflected in the numerous visits by the two countries’ senior officials,” added the communiqué.
In this context, this high level meeting “constitutes a new opportunity for both parties to pursue, at the highest levels of the two States, the longstanding dialogue and reflection launched for reinforcing the bilateral political dialogue and establishing an important economic and commercial partnership, set to be extended and deepened over the coming period,” said the source.
“Moreover, the two parties will share their views about the common-interest questions, notably the crisis in Libya, Western Sahara question, the situation in Mali and in the region of Sahel, as well as the Middle East. They will also discuss gobal issues like migration and cross-border terrorism,” concluded the communiqué.
