BERLIN-Berlin’s International Fruits and Vegetables Fruits “Logistica 2019” opened Wednesday with the participation of twenty Algerian companies seeking new export opportunities.
Trade Minister, Said Djellab inaugurated the Algerian stand at this world-renowned event, in the presence of Algeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Noureddine Aouam, Representative of the Arab League in Germany, Talal El Amine and Chairman of the Algerian Trade and Industry Chamber (CACI), Mohamed Laid Benamor.
According to Djellab, Algeria’s participation at this event is part of a new move to “strengthen the presence of our country at economic and international events.”
Fruits Logistica 2019 enables participating Algerian companies to find sustainable outlets for Agricultural products on international markets, namely large distribution.
“Algerian products are marketed on foreign markets but with small quantities. Now, we want to boost our agricultural exports by increasing their quantities through contracts,” affirmed Djellab.
Since many years, Algeria’s agricultural exports have hiked at a sustained pace with significant surpluses in many areas.
The country’s agricultural exports amounted to US$60 million against US$44 million in 2017.
Considered as one of the prestigious agricultural trade events in Europe, Logistica 2019 brings together 3,200 exhibitors from 80 countries.
The participation of Algeria at “Fruits Logistica” event is part of the programme of international economic events drafted by the Ministry.
In fact, 53 international fairs and exhibitions are scheduled for the period between 2019 and 2020 under this programme.
In 2018, Algeria participated in 25 fairs and exhibitions abroad, and held specific exhibitions in Washington, Brussels, Nouakchott, Libreville, Dakar and Doha.
