ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika received Tuesday in Algiers Khemaies Jhinaoui, special envoy of Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.
Jhinaoui, senior advisor to the President of the Tunisian Republic in charge of diplomatic affairs, carries a message from the Tunisian Head of state to President Bouteflika.
In a statement to the press after the meeting, Jhinaoui said “he handed out to President Bouteflika a message from the Tunisian President while reiterating the importance of relations between the two countries.”
The Tunisian official reaffirmed “the will of President Essebsi to strengthen these strategic and important relations in all fields including science.”
He further said that the meeting focused on “the situation in the region particularly in Libya” and “terrorism and the threat it poses to neighboring countries.”
The special envoy of the Tunisian president stressed in this regard that the two countries (Algeria and Tunisia) wish to see the Libyan brothers reach a peaceful solution and form a national unity government that will allow Libya recover its stability and preserve its territorial integrity.”
Jhinaoui added that President Bouteflika stressed at the meeting “the need for coordination between the two countries in order to move forward the negotiations in Libya.”
The meeting was attended by Minister of Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the States of the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel.
