ALGIERS- Algeria welcomed Tuesday the agreement concluded between Iran and the P5+1 group on the Iranian nuclear programme, calling it “historic,” the ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
“Algeria welcomes the historic agreement concluded today between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the P5+1 group, about the Iranian nuclear programme, crowning long and laborious years of negotiations.”
“The agreement, which is a major victory of diplomacy and dialogue, constitutes a decisive choice for international peace and security, as it provides for new prospects of stability and development for the countries and the peoples of the region,” said the statement.
The international community “should be inspired from this edifying example to achieve the efforts for nuclear disarmament and the non-proliferation, as well as to promote the right of States to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy for development,” added the statement.
While extending its “congratulations” to all the parties that contributed to the crowning of these negotiations, Algeria urges the latter to “work for the implementation” of this signed agreement, “reiterates its support to the efforts of the international community for disarmament and expresses the wish that this agreement can positively contribute to the achievement of the objective of a world without nuclear weapons,” concluded the communiqué.
