ALGIERS- Minister of Energy Mustapha Guitouni has presented, Wednesday in Istanbul, the main lines of Algeria’s energy policy at the 22nd World Petroleum Congress.
During a session devoted to Algeria, the minister presented a paper entitled “For stronger partnership in Algeria’s energy sector.”
In this regard, he insisted on the strategic decision made by the Government to strengthen partnership and the need for optimal use of technologies and development of Algerian resources, said the Ministry in a statement.
Guitouni also underlined Algeria’s huge potentialities in the mining sector and its large hydrocarbon resources, as well as the Government’s willingness to improve investment climate and make it more attractive with the aim to increase the country’s reserves and production capacities in the short and medium terms.
The minister added that this would contribute to boosting Algeria’s economic development, meeting domestic energy demand and maintaining the country’s role on the international energy scene, particularly in the marketing of natural gas.
“We are ready and willing to build balanced partnership beneficial to all, within a win-win approach,” he said.
Guitouni also expressed Algeria’s commitment to continue to play an active role to reach agreements between the member states of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC members with a view to rebalancing the market and working for “positive and constructive dialogue” with all countries.
