UK Minister for Middle East and North Africa on visit to Algeria Monday

ALGIERS- UK Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt will pay as from Monday a three day visit to Algeria, announced Sunday in Algiers UK Ambassador Andrew Noble.
“This visit is part of the consultations on foreign policy and bilateral relations between the two countries,” Noble told APS on the sidelines of a training workshop for senior delegates of the Maghreb countries’ National Education ministries on the how to deal with children with special educational needs, organized by the British Council.
Burt will reiterate “the United Kingdom’s commitment to deepening ties with Algeria in all areas, in particular in regional security and economic cooperation,” the UK Embassy said.
“Our open and regular discussions on the Strategic Security Partnership and the Investment Forum have built up our partnership, which is constantly strengthening,” it was said.
The minister will also “congratulate” Algeria on its ambition to diversify its economy, and will express his country’s “support” to the “constructive” role that Algeria plays in the region, including the “support to the internationally- recognized Libyan government to restore peace and prosperity”.
During his visit, the British minister will meet senior government officials and will also visit the British Council, which currently trains more than 1,300 English-language students.
