ALGIERS-Sonatrach group and the Indonesian oil company Pertamina inked Tuesday in Algiers a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their cooperation in the area of hydrocarbons.
The MoU was inked on the sidelines of the 15 IEF by CEO of Sonatrach group Amine Mazouzi and CEO of Pertamina Dwi Soet Jipto, in the presence of Energy Minister Noureddine Boutarfa.
The signing ceremony comes after discussions launched by Sonatrach with its partners to strengthen cooperation and partnership.
“The agreement reflects privileged between Sonatrach and Pertamina and highlights both partners willingness to consolidate this partnership,” according to officials.
It also aims at “setting up an appropriate framework for research and implementation of new opportunities between the two companies in new upstream and downstream hydrocarbon projects (gas and oil) in Algeria.”
During the signing ceremony, Pertamina CEO hailed the signing of this agreement, which reflects, according to him, the excellent relations with Sonatrach that will be strengthened in the future.
The MoU is a reactivation of the former 2012-2014 cooperation framework between the two companies on oil and gas activities.
Pertamina Company has been operating in Algeria since 2010 and has participated in many oil operations since 2014, particularly in Menzel Ledjmet (north) gas field in Illizi.
