Social development: Algeria partakes in AU technical committee meeting

ALGIERS- Algeria has taken part early April (1-5) in the third ordinary session of the African Union’s specialized technical committee on social development, labour and employment,
held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security said Saturday in a statement.
At the opening of the session, the ministry’s general secretary, Mohamed Khiati, leading the Algerian delegation, and in his capacity as President-in-Office for the 2nd session of the committee held in Algiers in April 2017, stressed the actions undertaken in the implementation of the decisions made in Algiers.
The third session was held under the theme “elimination of poverty through strategic investments at the national and regional levels for social development, labour and employment in Africa.”
The Algerian delegation raised a number of issues, such as “the need to promote an inclusive growth conducive to employment creation.”
Algeria called for “putting employment, as a strategic variable, at the heart of development policies, in order to benefit from favorable demographic dividend.”
The delegation also insisted on the “formalization of African economies to promote decent job and ensure good incomes and social welfare for everybody.”
