FAMECK (France)- Several Algerian films have won awards at the 27th Arab Film Festival in Fameck (north-east of France), which continues Sunday, the organizers said.
Competing in the “feature films” section, the documentary “Counter-powers” (2016) of Malek Bensmail won the Documentary Prize, while director Hassen Ferhani was awarded a “special mention” for his documentary ” in my head a roundabout “(2015).
The short film “The experimental garden” (2016) of Dania Reymond won the Grand Prize in its category, while the Audience Award, returned to “Good luck Algeria” (2016), a fiction directed by Franco-Algerian Farid Bentoumi.
The jury, chaired by Moroccan writer Tahar Ben Jelloun, also presented the festival’s Grand prize to “Clash” (2016), a feature film by Egyptian director Mohamed Diab, screened at Cannes in 2016.
The media prize was given to “3000 Nights” (2015), a feature film by Palestinian filmmaker Mai Masri.
In addition to the award-winning films, other Algerian productions including “The Road to Istanbul” (2015) by Rachid Bouchareb and “Chronicles of my village” (2016) of Karim Traidia, were competing in this festival.
