Qatar Food and Hospitality Show: QBA explores partnership opportunities with Algerian operators

DOHA (Qatar)- Minister of Trade Said Djellab broached Thursday, in Doha, with the head of the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassem Al Thani ways to strengthen partnership and investment
between the two countries, notably in the sectors of tourism and agriculture.
In the presence of about a dozen of businessmen from the two countries, this meeting was held on the sidelines of the international exhibition of the food processing industry “Food and Hospitality,” organized from 6 to 8 November in Doha with the participation of Algeria as a guest of honor.
In this regard, QBA’s officials underlined that the fields of tourism and agriculture are among the most attractive sectors for the Qatari investors, provided that, added the source, a detailed planning is ensured to achieve major projects in Algeria.
The Qatari businessmen expressed a particular interest for the sectors of tourism (seaside resorts), agriculture (farms and livestock breeding) as well as industry and fishing, according to Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassem Al Thani.
The Qatari operators seek to export the products of their common projects with the Algerian businessmen to European markets and African countries close to Algeria.
In this regard, he said that the implementation of tourism, agriculture, trade and industrial projects in Algeria requires studies to make sure that all the conditions conducive to their implementation are met.
QBA’s head also broached the hydrocarbon sector which offers major investment opportunities.
For his part, Djellab stressed the importance of the positive interactivity and the contact that marked the meetings of the two countries’ businessmen, pointing out, in this regard, the development of potentialities offered by Algeria to operators, notably in terms of logistical infrastructures.
