ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, welcomed Monday, the “leading roles” and “crucial missions” of women throughout the history of Algeria, and their determination in the face
of the current challenges.

“This day, which represents the values of freedom, equality and human dignity, offers us an excellent opportunity to express our pride in the women of Algeria,” said the President of the Republic in a message read on his behalf by the Minister of National Solidarity, Family and the Status of Women, Kaoutar Krikou, at a ceremony organized in honor of Algerian women at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

President Tebboune expressed, in the same vein, his “gratitude” to the Algerian woman welcoming “the leading roles and crucial missions she has never ceased to assume throughout the history of our country. A history marked by exceptional women that the memory will retain and respect.”

“The difficult health crisis that our country has gone through has highlighted the deep-rooted solidarity and mutual aid among the Algerian people and the cohesion within society which has enabled us, Praise be to God, to make significant progress in the fight against the pandemic and to achieve successive victories through continuous and combined efforts, the last of which was the launch, in January 2021, of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign,” said the President of the Republic.

“We are still working to take measures to mitigate the impact of the pandemic, with the help of everyone, including civil society, in which women are one of the key levers,” added President Tebboune.

This decisive step, “requires the building of a new era free from corruption in all its forms, and initiating a real momentum to make up for lost time and complete what we have started since the people have honored us with their trust and invested us with the responsibility of fulfilling their aspirations, stemming from the authentic and blessed Hirak,” he added.

In this regard, “we are determined to continue, with the help of God, the realization of

the commitments we have made,” added the president.

Highlighting the role of Algerian women, “ in terms of political empowerment and participation in economic recovery,” the Head of State also noted “the enshrinement of the principle of equity in access to senior positions and protection against all forms of violence under a legal framework in line with national constants and in accordance with international commitments.

“I am deeply convinced of the strong will of our country’s women to join institutions, mainly with regard to the integration of women in economic life through the promotion of wealth-producing projects and the spirit of entrepreneurship among innovative women,” the President of the Republic said, mentioning rural women and the housewives.

Recalling the national inter-sectoral program that will be implemented for the benefit of women in remote and marginalized areas, the President of the Republic stressed the need to ensure that this program “provides constant support and regular evaluation.”

On this occasion, President Tebboune called for “the synergy of the efforts of the daughters and sons of Algeria at a time when the willingness to sow discord and chaos are no longer concealed,” saying he is convinced that “they are inevitably doomed to failure in the face of the people’s determination.
In conclusion, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his best wishes to Algerian women, reiterating on this occasion “all the support for the success of the next decisive deadlines in the context of building the new Algeria.”
