Peace Agreement implementation: Continuing stabilization process in Mali

BAMAKO- Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel participated Wednesday, in Bamako, with Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, as part of his working visit to Mali,
in a meeting of follow-up Committee on the implementation of Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Mali.
Foreign Minister took part in this meeting in his capacity as president of the Agreement Follow-up Committee and leader of the international Mediation.
This meeting which takes place in the context of first visit of UN Secretary General to Mali was a renewed opportunity to continue Mali’s stabilization process on the basis of the implementation of the Peace Agreement, facilitated by Algeria.
In his opening speech, Foreign Minister said that “Algeria will continue to respect its commitments concerning peace-building, stabilization and economic development in Mali. Its support to the brotherly Malian people constitutes one of the fundamental elements of its foreign policy in accordance with the commitment and willingness of His Excellency President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika who follows with the greatest attention the evolution of the situation in Mali and in the zone of the Sahel.”
In this regard, he emphasized the importance to be granted to the building of confidence among the Malian parties and their adoption of the process of the implementation of the Agreement on peace and reconciliation in Mali.
For his part, Malian Prime Minister SoumeylouBoubeye Maïa reviewed the state of the implementation of the peace agreement by giving a particular emphasis to the significant progress that has been made in this regard, notably the trust that has progressively set up among the Malian parties, allowing the implementation of several actions.
