Nigeria’s foreign minister on working visit to Algeria as of Sunday

ALGIERS – Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama will visit Algeria on Sunday, at the head of a large delegation at the invitation of Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel,
a statement of the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
During this two-day visit, Messahel will co-chair with his Nigerian counterpart the fourth session of the Algerian-Nigerian High Joint Commission of Cooperation.
The session is meant to for the two ministers “a suitable occasion to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the state of the bilateral cooperation and establish new prospects to raise it to the level of the political relations between the two countries,” said the source.
The 4th session of the High Joint Commission “reflects the firm willingness of Algeria and Nigeria to deepen their cooperation, take advantage of their huge economic potentials and five a fresh impetus to the bilateral relations,” said the communiqué.
“Seeking new fields of cooperation, Updating projects of cooperation and examining new proposals will aim at significantly boost the bilateral cooperation on new bases.”
This session is designed as “a privileged space for the two countries, which work together to achieve the African Union’s objectives and ideals, to work together on regional and international issues of common interest, including the challenges facing the African countries, to guarantee peace, security and stability of the continent as well as its economic and social development.”
During his stay in Algiers, Nigeria’s Foreign Minister will also hold talks with senior Algerian officials.
