MIMUN: Algerian Nawel Belbey honoured at Moscow conference

MOSCOW-Algerian student Nawel Belbey was honoured at the Moscow International Model United Nations (MIMUN), held at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MIGMO).
Nawel Belbey, which currently prepares a Ph.D in law, was nominated best delegate of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, within which she won fame alongside with her fellow countryman Kamel Mostefai, Secretary General of the National Association “Academie de la jeunesse Algerienne” (Academy of Algerian youth).”
Following six days of work within the Commission, the Algerian student has attracted the attention of jury as she made interesting proposals for the promotion of women’s rights
The two young Algerians, originating from the province of Mascara, expressed their pride for being honoured in this event where serious young people play the role of authentic delegates, address speeches, make proposals and draft projects and resolutions, as usually done at different meetings within the UN.
Following the closing ceremony of “MIMUN-2017,” representatives of Algeria were honoured by Algeria’s ambassador to Russia, Smail Allaoua, who congratulated and encouraged them “to carry on their efforts so as to raise Algeria’s flag at international forums,” Kamel Mostefai told APS.
During the previous ‘MIMUN-2016,” Algerian Kada Afia from Tighenif was nominated best delegate of the Committee “1540” on “dangers of massive destruction weapons.”
Although just a simulation, this international conference allowed participants not only get involved in the UN workings but also suggest a vision different from some current issues, including some at standstill
