Messahel received in Niamey by Niger president

NIAMEY- Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel has been received Tuesday in Niamey by Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou, to whom he conveyed the feelings of “fraternity and esteem” from President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Messahel also expressed the “Head of the State’s willingness and commitment to reinforce the bilateral relation and consultations about the regional questions.”
The audience was part of the tour the FM has paid to the capitals of some countries of the Sahel.
President Issoufou who welcomed the quality of the “exceptional ties” between the two countries has expressed satisfaction with the “dynamic” bilateral relations, boosted by the visits of senior officials from both countries.
Stressing his interest in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, Issoufou underlined “the importance of maintaining regular consultation on regional issues, in particular the fight against terrorism and the organized crime as well as the issue of clandestine migration,” expressing recognition to “Algeria for its active solidarity following the terrorist attacks in Niger.”
Messahel, as for him, renewed Algeria’s commitment “to continue and strengthen cooperation with Niger in various fields”, welcoming the state of the implementation of the decisions taken during the last meeting of the Algerian-Nigerian Joint Commission, held in March 2017 in Niamey.
Messahel also broached the various threats faced by the region countries, notably terrorism, organized crime and clandestine migration, on which regular consultation between the two countries is necessary in order to have collective and effective action.”
The Niger President requested from Messahel to convey his fraternal greetings and sentiments of consideration to President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
The meeting was attended by Niger Foreign Minister Ibrahim Yakoubou.
