Messahel meets with members of national community in Italy

ALGIERS- Minister of Maghreb Affaires, African Union and Arab League Abdelkader Messahel met, Saturday in Rome, with members of the national community settled in Italy, to whom he conveyed greetings of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika on the occasion of the double celebration of the 54th anniversary of Independence and Youths, and Eid al-Fitr.
Messahel underlined the Head of State’s special interest attached by the Head of State to the national community living abroad, recalling, in this regard, the measures taken to address their concerns and expectations in the administrative and consular field, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He also recalled the deep political and economic reforms undertaken by the President of the Republic to consolidate the rule of law, strengthen participatory democracy and improve the socioeconomic conditions, and which were crowned by the adoption of the amended Constitution.
Messahel emphasized the significant achievements for Algerian women in all fields, and stressed the importance attached by the Head of State to the place and the role of youths in the nation-building efforts.
Messahel also underlined the excellent relations between Algeria and Italy and the strategic partnership between the two countries, and pointed out the key place of the Algerian community in that relation and its contribution to Algeria’s development, added the source.
The Minister’s meeting with the national community was attended by Algeria’s new ambassador to Italy, Abdelhamid Senouci Bereksi, and Consul General in Milan Abdelhakim Touahria.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the second session of Algeria-Italy strategic dialogue on political and security issues.
The session was co-chaired by Messahel and Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Vincenzo Amendola.
During his visit to Italy, Messahel has held discussions with Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni.
