ALGIERS-Algeria “is a key partner” for France, stressed Secretary General of the French Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry Christian Masset, adding that both countries “are partners” that “can face common challenges.”
“For France, Algeria is a key partner,” said Masset after an audience with Minister for Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel.
“The audience, which was followed by more specialized meetings, will result in a stronger cooperation to face common challenges,” the French official said, adding that both countries “have common interests” and share “the same vision.”
The French official also stated that he discussed with Messahel “issues in the region” particularly radicalization and counterterrorism in order “to ensure and promote stability in the region and worldwide.”
Besides, Masset stressed that he broached the Algerian-French High level Interministerial Committee (CIHN), adding that Algeria-France relations “are good and will be further strengthened.”
“I am here in Algeria to see how to implement on the ground the work accomplished since the revival of relations in 2012,” he added.
