ALGIERS-The Land Freight Transport and Logistics Group LOGITRANS seeks to contribute actively to the efforts made by public authorities to boost non-hydrocarbon exports through a series of measures
to back exporters to African markets, said CEO Boualem Kini.
“In anticipation of the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the LOGITRANS Group has mobilized, early this year, all the human and material means to achieve the export goals set by the country’s high authorities,” said Kini in an interview with APS.
In this regard, he referred to the creation of a subsidiary specializing in international transport responsible for accompanying economic operators in the transport of their goods to various African countries, including neighboring ones.
LOGITRANS also seeks to develop transit zones dedicated to exports in Tindouf and Tamanrasset with transport centers and warehouses under the control of Customs services in order to facilitate the export process, boost trade activities in border areas and create jobs.”
The group expects to receive the Tamanrasset logistics platform (16 hectares) during the fourth quarter of 2021 and the Tindouf transit zone (8 hectares) at the beginning of the first quarter of 2022.
In 2020, the fleet of LOGITRANS Group was reinforced following the purchase of 250 new semi-trailers to ensure the transport of goods to various African countries, in addition to nearly 3500 trucks carrying more than 15 million tons of goods/year on a 126 million km route.
In 2019, the group has organized more than 64 caravans for the transport of nearly 40,000 tons of goods to Mauritania, Senegal, Niger, Mali and Tunisia, said Kini.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the total cargo shipped to these African countries amounts to 13,000 tons. Several caravans have also been organized up to kilometer point (0) as part of the regulatory measures decided by the Ministry of Trade to regulate exports via border crossings.
Referring to the future prospects of LOGITRANS, Kini said that the Group intends to restructure its transport activities through the development of new specialized subsidiaries, particularly in conventional transport, specialized transport and oversized transport for difficult operations.
