Libya: Algeria, Turkey agree to work together for implementation of Berlin Conference decisions

ALGIERS¬- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday in Algiers said that Algeria and Turkey totally “agree” on the need for combining efforts in a view to implementing the conclusions of the Berlin
Conference on Libya.
Concerning the situation in the region, a “total convergence exists between us and Turkey about the need for working together in a view to implementing the conclusions of Berlin Conference on Libya,” Tebboune told a news conference held jointly with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Algeria and Turkey “closely follows the situation in Libya,” he added.
Held last Sunday under the aegis of the United Nations and with the participation of 11 countries including Algeria, the Berlin conference on Libya pointed out the fundamental principles for the preservation of peace and stability in Libya, in particular the strengthening of political harmony among Libyans, as an effective framework to resolve the crisis.
Algeria has offered to host the dialogue between the Libyan brothers.
With regard to the bilateral cooperation, we agreed on raising very shortly the volume of trade exchanges between Algeria and Turkey to more than five billion dollars, announced President Tebboune during a news conference held with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on a friendship and working visit to Algeria.
He insisted on the importance of the bilateral exchanges, in the fields interesting youth notably.
“Turkey is today one of the world’s leading economies outside the European Union … which built its economy on SMEs,” said the President of the Republic.
President Tebboune and his Turkish counterpart agreed to establish “exchanges on a daily basis” between the Algerian and Turkish ministers.
He also said he has approved the purchase of a land basis for the construction of new embassy of Turkey in Algeria. The two presidents agreed on the opening of a Turkish cultural centre in Algeria and an Algerian cultural centre in Turkey.
President Tebboune said he has accepted the invitation of President Erdogan to pay a visit to Turkey.
