International meeting on prison reform in Algiers by end-June

ALGIERS- An international meeting on prison reform in Algeria is scheduled to take place in Algiers by the end of June, in order to present the Algerian experience in this matter, to the countries of the region,
an official at Justice Ministry said.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the official launch of the middle school exam (BEM) at the El Harrach Rehabilitation Centre, Director General for Justice Ministry’s Prison and Reintegration Administration, Mokhtar Felioune announced that an international meeting on prison reform in Algeria would be held by the end of June.
Proposed by the European Union (EU), the meeting is meant to present the Algerian experience in this field to the neighboring countries which are willing to engage in this process.”
Stressing the importance of explaining the justice reforms initiated by Algeria, particularly in the area of prison reform, the same official said that the EU considered that the Algerian experience “may be generalized, particularly to the countries of the region.”
Felioune also recalled the EU role in the prison reform operation in Algeria, notably through the exchange of expertise and training
