ALGIERS- Minister of Energy Mustapha Guitouni received Thursday, in Algiers, Lord Richard Risby, representative of the British Prime Minister in charge of economic partnership with Algeria,
with whom he broached energy cooperation opportunities between Algeria and the United Kingdom, said the Ministry in a communiqué.
During these talks, the two sides exchanged viewpoints on the global economic and energy situation, energy security in the world as well as the progress of oil markets and efforts made to balance them on the medium and long terms, said the source.
They also broached the relations of cooperation between the two countries that they dubbed “excellent,” while discussing notably the business and investment opportunities and ways to facilitate the execution of common projects.
Guitouni gave a general overview on the Algerian energy policy and the opportunities offered in the oil and gas upstream, particularly in the strengthening of production capacities and means, and in exploration, including the offshore.
The minister also insisted on Algeria’s willingness to further work to better develop its hydrocarbon resources and to exploit its mining heritage in hydrocarbons in the field of petrochemistry and processing industries.
For his part, Lord Risby expressed his country’s willingness to develop business relations with Algeria with which the United Kingdom has “excellent” relations.
“Algeria’s reputation is to be a reliable supplier,” he said, adding that “the United Kingdom wants to invest more in Algeria and continue building business relations as fruitful as those already achieved with big British companies.”
