Foreign Minister receives Saudi counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf received Tuesday in Algiers his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, who is on an official visit to Algeria.

The two sides held one-on-one discussions, broadened then to the two countries’ delegations, in a working session on ways to strengthen the brotherhood and cooperation relations between Algeria and Saudi Arabia, and prospects to overcome the political and security crises threatening the stability of several Arab States.

In this regard and in anticipation of the next bilateral events, the two sides agreed to strengthen the legal and structural framework of the bilateral relations through practical measures, notably by finalizing the elaboration of laws that will enrich the legal arsenal governing the bilateral cooperation and the creation of the High Council of Algerian-Saudi coordination with its different subsidiary bodies, while encouraging the exchange of official visits to intensify and give concrete expression to the promising cooperation and partnership opportunities in the economic field.

The development of relations in the Maghreb region and the efforts made to end the crises in Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Syria and Lebanon, were also at the heart of the talks between the two ministers.

As part of the preparations for the next Arab Summit in Jeddah, the two sides reaffirmed the importance of seizing this renewed opportunity in order to continue the efforts aimed to clean up the climate and strengthen the Arab understanding as part of the follow-up to the decisions and guidelines stemming from 2022 Algiers Summit, for the unification of the Arab ranks in the face of the multiple regional and international challenges.

The two sides agreed to intensify the efforts to promote the bilateral relations and strengthen their political and economic foundations, by enshrining the common willingness of the two brotherly countries to reach Arab solutions to the Arab issues and defend the causes and issues of the Nation, mainly the Palestinian cause, in the regional and international forums.
