ALGIERS- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri stressed Monday, in Algiers, the need to provide Libyans with the required support to establish a roadmap to overcome the crisis shaking the country.
The Egyptian official, upon his arrival in Algiers to take part in the tripartite ministerial meeting Algeria-Egypt-Tunisia about Libya, emphasized the necessity to “find a solution to the suffering of the Libyan people, which has gone on for too long, by providing support to our Libyan brother people, allowing them to take matters in their own hands through a roadmap preserving the country’s stability paving the way for its development and prosperity.”
Shoukri said his visit is meant to continue “consultations between Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt to help Libya restoring State institutions and getting out of the crisis to strengthen stability in the region.”
The Egyptian Foreign policy chief said the visit is also an opportunity to examine, with Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel, bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest, including cooperation within the African Union.
Messahel will co-chair with his Egyptian and Tunisian counterparts the tripartite meeting, which will consider the latest developments in Libya, at both political and security levels.
They will also “discuss ways and means to deepen the efforts of the three countries to speed up Libyan crisis settlement process” through dialogue and reconciliation.
