STOCKHOLM-Minister of Industry and Mines Abdessalem Bouchouareb invited Tuesday in Stockholm the Swedish company Ericsson to contribute to the development of industries in areas of innovation and technologies as part of an Algerian approach meant to diversify economy.
“Ericsson is a key partner since it provides genuine solutions and supports Algeria’s willingness to diversify its economy to overcome dependence on hydrocarbons,” Bouchouareb affirmed during a visit to the site of this Swedish company specialized in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
For the minister, the solutions proposed by Swedish companies would allow Algeria “speed up co-production in the fields of mechanics and new technologies.”
“Ericsson is at the heart of these fields,” the same official said.
Bouchouareb, who received explanations about Ericsson’s expertise in new technologies and their applications serving car industry, energy, transport and public services, invited representatives of this company to strengthen their information campaigns about the advantages of economy digitalization (e-economy) in collaboration with Algerian researchers.
In this regard, Bouchouareb highlighted the need for partnerships between Ericsson and Algerian public companies in the research-development field.
The minister advocated focusing on mechanical industry and ICTs before broadening these partnerships to other fields.
For his part, Director General Yacine Zerrouki of Ericsson told APS that “Ericsson provides the Algerian industry and economy.”
“We aim at making SITEL the driving force of public industrial groups’ development in Algiers through providing them with solutions and services in the field of new technologies,” Zerrouki added.
According to Zerrouki, this program, which has been submitted to public authorities for approval, includes new investments in recruitment and training.
