APS : MONDAY 12 MARCH 2018
KUWAIT CITY (Kuwait)- The general manager of the Algerian news agency APS, Abdelhamid Kacha, and the chairman and general manager of the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA and head of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA),
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah, discussed Monday, in Kuwait, ways to step up cooperation between the two agencies.
In a meeting at the headquarters of the Kuwaiti agency, Kasha, who is on an official visit to Kuwait at the invitation of his Kuwaiti counterpart, the two managers examined ways and methods to extend cooperation between APS and KUNA to various fields of common interest, including exchange of news, photos, visits and expertise, in addition to coordination of positions in regional and international media fora.
They also stressed “the need to continue consultation to further develop the strong bilateral relations and benefit from the successful experiences and be in tune with the most modern news services and the accelerated development of the news industry worldwide.”
The managers of the two agencies welcomed the “permanent and constructive” cooperation between the two media institutions.
They agreed on the “necessity to develop, step up and raise this cooperation to a level of the excellent historical relations between the two sister countries.”
In this respect, they discussed how to revitalize the cooperation agreement signed, many years ago, between APS and KUNA.
Kacha greeted Kuwaiti media institutions for their “role in supporting Arab causes, their contribution to the development of Arab news and the spread of culture through journalistic and intellectual publications covering all Arab countries.”
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah, for his part, greeted the role of APS in the “promotion of the strong relations between the two countries and the strengthening of links between the two brotherly peoples,” calling for “combining efforts of Arab media institutions to develop a common media discourse, fight terrorism and face media campaigns aimed at tarnishing the image of Arab people.”
The two managers also raised the “crucial” role of FANA in training journalists of new agencies and its commitment to boosting cooperation with regional and international media institutions to develop news industry in Arab countries.
