ALGIERS- Algeria and Sweden agreed to set up an Algerian-Swedish business council to strengthen the partnership and investment opportunities between the two countries, said the Ministry of Industry and Mining.
This decision was taken following a proposal made by Minister of Industry and Mining Abdessalem Bouchouareb, who is on a working visit since Monday to Stockholm (Sweden), to the Swedish Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg, who expressed his support for this proposal.
In this regard, he also agreed to organize a trip for the Swedish businessmen to Algeria to identify the partnership opportunities in priority sectors such as mining, engineering and subcontracting, renewable energies and pharmaceutical industry.
Bouchouareb also held talks with the Swedish minister on the state of the bilateral cooperation and ways to promote it to the level of the political relations between the two countries.
After underlining the depth of the political relations between Algeria and Sweden, Bouchouareb emphasized the “need to move from the phase of commercial exchanges and technical cooperation to an industrial partnership based on the co-production, notably in some fields of excellence for the Swedish companies.”
It mainly concerns the sectors of mining, telecommunications, renewable energies, engineering and pharmaceutical industry.
“Algeria can constitute a real engine of growth for the Swedish companies in search of new markets,” he said.
