Algerian-Mauritanian Business Council: 9 cooperation agreements inked in several fields

NOUAKCHOTT (Mauritania) – Nine cooperation agreements have been signed on Tuesday in Nouakchott, on the sidelines of the 2nd session of the Algerian-Mauritanian Business Council.
The agreements aim at making a qualitative leap forward in the economic cooperation between the two countries.
The agreements were signed in the presence of Minister of Commerce Saïd Djellab and Mauritanian Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Naha Mint Hamdi Ould Mouknass, as well as Mauritanian ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs and businessmen from both countries.
Those agreements cover the sectors of transport, industry, health, mechanics, cosmetics, food processing industry, hygiene and security in addition to activities related to marketing, environment, metal industry, car industry and communication.
Under the agreement on the automobile industry, the first “KIA Algeria”-brand car manufactured in Algeria would be marketed in Mauritania.
On that occasion, Minister of Commerce Saïd Djellab called on the parties to pursue the projects agreed in the previous meetings and fully implement the concluded agreements.
The minister also voiced the government’s attachment to boost the bilateral economic cooperation so to establish in the near future huge investment projects, likely to lay the foundations for a lasting structuring partnership.
“We are convinced that these measures will be crowned by concrete projects on the ground”, he said, emphasizing the availability of his sector to examine all the proposals and concerns raised by both the Mauritanian and Algerian businessmen.
