ALGIERS- Minister of Industry and Mining Abdessalem Bouchoureb said Tuesday, in Algiers, that Algerian operators are currently negotiating export contracts in agricultural mechanization towards Africa and thus, following several medicines export operations.
“The African market is at our reach, we have already started to export. We started with medicines and are currently negotiating on markets the agricultural mechanization, including tractors,” said Bouchouareb during his visit to the 15th International Food-processing Fair of Algiers Djazagro, in company of the minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing Abdessalem Chelghoum.
When asked by a private Algerian operator on when the constraints for export will be lifted to conquer the African market, Bouchouareb underlined that the State supports private operators who are already in the continent and those who want to enter this market.
“Learning to export requires time. We are finalizing the Ndjamena trans-Saharan route, it will enable the direct entry of this market,” he added.
While visiting the fair, the two ministers discussed with Algerian and foreign operators. They gave guidelines on the importance of upstream and downstream investment in the sector of agriculture.
“Manufacturers must work in partnership with farmers,” said Chelghoum to an operator who invested in the cold chain.
In this regard, he underlined that “the most important” interest must be given to investment and partnership in the agricultural and food-processing sector.
For his part, Bouchouareb recalled the incentives granted by the State to investment through various laws and mechanisms notably for the agricultural and industrial sectors, adding that this fair “is an opportunity for our operators to materialize their projects on the field,” he added.
