Algerian-American forum on energy opens in Houston

HOUSTON (Texas)- The 2nd Algerian-American forum on energy kicked off Monday in Houston (Texas) with the objective of strengthening the energy relations between the two countries.
The forum was marked by the participation of the Chief Executive Officers of Sonatrach and Sonelgaz Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour and Mohamed Arkab, head of Alnaft agency Arezki Hocini, ambassador Madjid Bouguerra as well as several officials of the energy sector.
On the American side, three representatives of the departments of State and Trade are taking part in this meeting, placed under the sign of strengthening energy partnership between Algeria and United States.
The three representatives are Sandra Oudkirk, deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs of the US Department of State, Joshua Harris, director of the Office of the Maghreb Affairs at the State Department and Steven Garret, representative of the US Trade Department.
The 2nd forum was also marked by the participation of several US oil companies specialized in production and services.
Two companies, namely Schlumberger and Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), will present their solutions in the fields of the offshore and oil services.
The meeting, organized by the Algerian-US business Council (USABC), the American-Arab Chamber of Commerce and Algeria’s embassy in Washington, focuses on several themes relating to the promotion of trade and investment opportunities with the American companies in the field of energy.
For their parts, the two groups Sonatrach and Sonelgaz and their agencies and subsidiaries will present the investments retained in their development programmes.
The programme of renewable energies, the offshore exploration and the exploitation of the non-conventional recourses are also at the heart of the debates that will be organized during this meeting.
