Algeria, South Korea willing to strengthen customs cooperation

ALGIERS- Director General of Customs Kadour Bentahar and his South Korean counterpart Hong-Uk Chun agreed, Wednesday in Seoul, to strengthen cooperation between the customs institutions of the two countries, said the Directorate General of Customs in a statement.
Bentahar started Monday a visit to Seoul at the head of a customs delegation, at the invitation of his South Korean counterpart.
During his discussions with Chun, Bentahar outlined the policy for the modernization of Algerian Customs, focusing on the project of the new information system.
Chun expressed readiness of his institution to provide technical assistance based on the Korean experience in this field, said the statement.
In this regard, South Korean customs experts would pay a visit to Algeria soon to work with their Algerian counterparts and share their expertise.
The discussions between Bentahar and Chun were preceded by a visit to the customs services of Incheon International Airport in Seoul, where presentations were given on South Korea Customs’ electronic clearance system, Uni Pass.
This visit aimed also at exchanging experience in the best practices in customs procedures, computerization, training, mutual administrative assistance in prevention, investigation and repression of Customs offences and the effective enforcement of customs law.
