Algeria, Russia: Cooperation to manufacture Sputnik V vaccine in Algeria

ALGIERS- Algeria and Russia agreed, in an audience granted Sunday by Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad to Russia’s ambassador to Algiers Igor Beliaev, to initiate contacts to establish a bilateral
cooperation in the manufacturing of the Russian Covid-19 vaccine “Sputnik V” in Algeria, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

In this regard, Prime minister extended, “on behalf of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Algerian government’s thanks to Russia’s highest authorities for the diligent follow-up which has been reserved to Algeria’s request for the purchase of Russian vaccine Sputnik V, as part of the Government’s efforts to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic,” said the source.

“The two sides agreed to initiate contacts between the concerned services of the two countries in order to establish a bilateral cooperation in the manufacturing of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V in Algerian,” said the source.

The audience, which took place at the Palace of Government, was also an opportunity for the two sides to “welcome the quality of the Algerian-Russian relations and reaffirm the two countries’ commitment to strengthening and further diversifying them, notably on the occasion of the bilateral events on the cooperation agenda between the two countries,” concluded the source.
