ALGIERS- Algeria and the Republic of Congo are working ardently to make bilateral relations stronger and give a fresh impetus to the Algiers-Brazzaville axis, Congo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Cooperation and Congolese Abroad, Jean Claude Gakosso, said Wednesday in Algiers.
“We have started to revitalize Algiers-Brazzaville axis a few months ago” and “we are working ardently to give a fresh impetus to bilateral relations,” Gakosso told reporters upon his arrival in Houari Boumediene international airport, where he was welcomed by Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.
Mentioning the State visit made Congolese President Denis Sassou-Nguesso made a few months ago to Algeria, during which 15 agreements were signed to “step up cooperation between the two countries,” Gakosso said he was carrying a message from Congolese president to his “brother and friend President Bouteflika.”
He underlined that the two countries are not only oil producers, but have also other factors allowing them to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
“Congo is a forest country and Algerie owns the appropriate technology, subsequently all conditions are in favour of Algiers-Brazzaville axis.”
During his two-day stay in Algeria, Gakosso and Messahel will examine ways and methods to further strengthen relations between Algeria and Congo, for the mutual benefit of the two nations, and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.
