ALGIERS- Minister of Tourism and Craft Industry Abdelkader Benmessaoud and his Bulgarian counterpart Nikolina Angelkova agreed to create an orientation committee for the implementation of the clauses of the memorandum of understanding on tourism, signed in 2014 in Algiers between the two countries,
said Saturday a ministerial communiqué.
Benmessaoud and his Bulgarian counterpart reviewed the state of the bilateral relations in tourism and examined “ways to revive the bilateral cooperation in tourism and craft industry,” agreeing to create an orientation committee to implement the clauses of the memorandum of understanding on tourism, signed in 2014 in Algiers between the two countries.
The two sides insisted on “ways to exchange experiences in thermal tourism, tourism investment, business tourism, mountain tourism and adventure tourism, in addition to the intensification of cooperation on training in tourism, hotel business and catering.”
During the plenary session of the high-level conference on investment in sustainable tourism, organized from 30 to 1 June in Bulgaria, by Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism and the consultative council of the international tourism investment conference, the minister said that Algeria “has several assets and natural tourist sites, in addition to bases of spiritual, historic and cultural tourism, establishing it as a popular destination by specialists and experts.
Algeria “gave a particular importance to the development of tourism and worked to integrate it into the networks of international tourism trade by developing more than 56,000 hectares destined to tourism investment and listing 100 thermal springs that could be invested for thermal and therapeutic tourism.”
The minister emphasized “the pioneering role of craft industry within this strategy, as it is one of sustainable tourism’s pillars, because of its civilizational and historic legacy.”
For his part, Bulgarian tourism minister expressed “his gratitude for the active and qualitative participation of the Algerian side” in this conference, welcoming “the quality of the privileged relations between Algeria and Bulgaria.”
