AfDB President satisfied with level of relations with Algeria

ALGIERS- President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Akinwumi Adesina expressed his “satisfaction with the nature and level” of relations with Algeria, adding that he intends to pay a visit next autumn to Algeria,
said Saturday a communiqué of Finance Ministry.
In a meeting with Minister of Finance Abderrahmane Raouya, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group, held from 21 to 25 May in Busan (South Korea), Adesina confirmed “his institution’s willingness to accompany Algeria in its economic and social development actions in the forms it prefers,” said the source.
The president of this regional bank expressed his hope to pay a visit to Algeria to enquire about the achievements that have been made so far and “the significant level reached by the country in terms of economic development,” said the communiqué, underlining that this visit is scheduled for next autumn.
As part of his participation in the annual Meetings of AfDB Group, Raouya also took part in the 2nd and 3rd meetings of the Councils of Governors.
The 2nd Councils of Governors was devoted to discussions of AfDB’s president with the governors on the issue of the 7th overall increase in AfDB’s capital.
Adesina emphasized the bank’s role in the forthcoming decade in the economic development of Africa, notably the five priority fields which are: Feeding Africa, Enlightening Africa, Industrializing Africa, Integrating Africa and Improving the African populations’ living conditions.
Increasing the capital will help accompanying the African countries in their development process.
In this regard, Raouya underlined the important role played currently by this African financial institution in the economic and social development of the continent.
