NEW YORK-The Western Sahara conflict is a decolonization issue between the Polisario Front and Morocco, reaffirmed in New York Algeria’s Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, Mohammed Bessedik.

It is, therefore, worrying to see these attempts, seeking to question the legal status of the territory and the legitimacy of its representatives, based on a biased and selective interpretation of UN resolutions to misinform and challenge the authority of the General Assembly and the Security Council.
This should also worry every member state of the United Nations, he said.
“The UN resolutions on this issue and the advisory opinions of the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Justice Union and the African Union (AU) all affirmed unequivocally that Morocco had no sovereignty over the territory of Western Sahara,” he recalled.
“This conflict can only be resolved through the freely expressed will of its people, in accordance with resolutions 1514 (XV), 1541 (XV) and 2625 (XXV),” concluded Bessedik.
