WASHINGTON- The new vice president of the World Bank (WB) for MENA region, Tunisian Ferid Belhadj, is to be in Algeria September 4-7, his first trip since he was appointed head of the Bretton Woods institution for Africa and the Middle East last July.
Ferid Belhadj is due to meet senior officials from the ministries of Finance, the Interior, Transport and the Bank of Algeria in this first contact with Algerian authorities.
The former principal private secretary of the president of the WB, who led the bank’s activities in several MENA countries, served as legal consultant for Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Morocco and Thailand.
A non-borrowing country, Algeria however has partnership relations with the Bretton Woods institution through consulting services relating to technical assistance for national development.
