BOUMERDES-Prime Minister of the Republic of South Korea, Lee Nak-Yon, said Tuesday in Boumerdes that his country was honoured to contribute to the development of Algeria’s economy.
“South Korea is honoured to contribute to the development of the Algerian economy through South Korean companies,” said Lee Nak-yon, who accompanied Minister of Energy and Mines, Youcef Yousfi during the commissioning of the second part of the second turbine of electricity production in Cap Djinet power plant (east of Boumerdes).
The South-Korean PM, who was also accompanied by CEO of Sonelgaz group, Mohamed Arkab, symbolically commissioned this part of the project with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts per hour. The project is the result of a partnership between the South Korean Company Daewoo and Sonelgaz.
“I am proud that Daewoo contributes to the development of Algeria’s economy and industry,” said the South Korean PM at a press conference on the sidelines of an inspection visit to some sites and facilities of this mega power plant that will be inaugurated in next January.
Nak-Yon also expressed Korean companies’ “full trust” for the “completion projects on time and without exceeding allotted budgets,” he assured.
The South Korean PM also hailed “stable economic, social and political development in Algeria despite experienced sufferings.”
For his part, CEO of Sonelgaz said he was “very proud” of the “success” of the power plant project, implemented with our South Korean partners, describing this partnership as “exemplary” and “successful model”.
