ALGIERS- Malian Minister of Mines and Oil Tiemoko Sangare told Minister of Energy Mustapha Guitouni that his country wants an active presence of Sonatrach in Mali, the ministry of Energy said Tuesday in a statement.
In a meeting between Guitouni and his Malian counterpart, on the sidelines of Sonatrach’s 11th Scientific and Technical Days (April 16-19) in Oran (432-km west of Algiers), Sangare stressed “Algeria’s great experience in hydrocarbon industry,” expressing his wish to have “more intensive (bilateral) cooperation and an active presence of Sonatrach in Mali,” the statement said.
The two officials examined cooperation between Algeria and Mali, dubbing it “good” and “historic.”
They discussed the prospects for its development in the energy field, especially hydrocarbons (research and exploration in Mali), according to the statement.
The Malian Minister paid a great tribute to President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who knew Mali during (Algeria’s) liberation war (1954-1962),” the statement said.
