Risk management: Traore hails Algerian Civil Protection’s “level of technical skills”

ALGIERS- Malian Minister of Security and Civil Protection, General Salif Traore hailed “remarkable technical skills” of the Algerian Civil Protection in risk management.
Traore said he was “filled with wonder at the high level of technical skills achieved by the Algerian Civil Protection in terms of mastery of the latest technologies following his visit Monday to the National Unit for Training and Intervention at the General Directorate of Civil Protection in Dari El Beida (Algiers), the Civil Protection announced in a communiqué.
In this regard, Traore hailed the Algerian Civil Protection’s “experience” in interventions abroad in the case of major disasters.
During his meeting with Director General of the Civil Protection, Colonel Mustapha El Habiri and representatives of the Ministry of Interior and Local Assemblies, Traore welcomed “the role” of this institution “in the consolidation of cooperation between both countries’ institutions in the management of common and major risks.”
Besides, the Malian official received a presentation on the missions and organization of the General Directorate of Civil Protection and the various steps “that marked the history of Civil Protection in terms of human resources training, modernization, outreach action, awareness-raising and the use of technology in risk management, like satellite imagery.
Algeria’s guest took note of the steps of cooperation and partnership between Civil
Protection and its counterpart worldwide following the signing of a cooperation agreement with the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
The Malian official said his visit to Algeria aimed at “strengthening” cooperation fields with both countries’ institution and “takeing advantage of Algeria’s expertise in this field,” said the communiqué.
For his part, Colonel El Habiri underscored “the willingness” of the Algerian Civil
Protection to train officers of its Malian counterpart in several fields.
